The Newscast Director coordinates the efforts of all technical operators during newscasts and other live and recorded productions.
Direct newscasts, breaking news and other programs using Grass Valley Ignite system. Other programs could include live audiences
Observes pictures through monitors and directs camera/video staff concerning composition
Acts as a liaison between engineering and production departments
Works with the news producers to deliver a clean and high energy newscast
Switches video sources and given direction at the same time during live broadcasts
Create commands and effects for newscast and other programs
Performs other duties as assigned
High school diploma
Fluency in English
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Prior newscast directing experience preferred
Minimum two years’ experience in news operations and production preferred
High stress environment with deadline pressures and the demands of breaking news which can hapen at any time
ENPS newsroom system experience preferred
Proficiency with broadcast control equipment
Ability to prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Must be willing and flexible to work any shift
Must be able to sit for long periods of time
